POPULATION ------A POINT FOR CONCERN.

        

           The earth comprises of different species of population.Humans are the most developed and intelligent form of population on earth.This is also the most harming species on the Earth.People around the world already reached 7 billion figure which is alarming.The projections show that ,it is going to cross 10 billion by 2050,,if the present rate of growth continues, which is a point of concern for every one.

 The accelerating growth in population,,known as population explosion is a hindrance to the development and it is a burden on the society.The reasons for population explosion are-

1.  Increasing life expectancy or declining rate of mortality.
2.  increasing rate of births.
3.  lack of education
4.  poverty and ignorance.
5.  declining infant deaths.
6.  A faith that children are gift of God.
7.  Advanced Medical science.[like vaccines for controlling many diseases]
8. Lack of awareness about the consequences of over population.  
9. Lack of canvassing on the birth control measures.

      Whatever may be the reason the present growth rate in population is leading to too many problems and it is a threat to the future generations also.Limited resources are being shared by too many people.Hence declining standard of living and poverty are the serious problems today.Cities are over crowded everywhere causing pollution,lack of sanitation,scarcity of water and food and increasing crime.
There is fast depletion of resources,minerals and pure water.People are responsible for making the earth no more livable.We are not giving our future generation,the same pure natural resources as we got from ancestors.We are not giving the same quality of life as we got.Technologically we may be advanced now.But where is the pure drinking water?We are adding minerals and drinking artificially treated water.Where is the pollution free air?We are conditioning the air to protect us.Where are the naturally grown grains and vegetables?We are using chemical fertilizers and pesticides to increase the yield to feed too many mouths.We are even manufacturing seeds in the laboratories.Every thing is made artificial and polluted now.
Malthus, a great economist,profounder of Malthusian theory of population explosion,stated that population increases at geometric proportion where as food supply increases at arithmetic proportion
That means if population growth is 2, 4, 8,16 , the food supply increases as 1,2.3.4,and so on.If proper measures are not taken to to control population, Nature it self applies certain checks in the form of floods,famines,earthquakes etc. to control excess population..This is what we are  witnessing today.
It is very serious problem today which every one should think of and take proper action irrespective of his/her race,religion,country or nationality.That is the only way to give the gift of quality life to our children.Otherwise people have to wage wars for food,water and even land and air..So let us be conscious about this.
